Nature
Vicky Anna Lardschneider (Group exhibition)
Former Barracks, Lenggries, 2022
In 2022, Vicky Anna Lardschneider participated in the group exhibition Nature at the former barracks in Lenggries.
Her contribution unfolded within a large, self-contained space that examined the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world.
At the center of the installation were four works dedicated to elemental wonders of nature — the Moon, Salt, Water, and Air — understood as fundamental, life-sustaining gifts of the Earth.
Surrounding these central works, Lardschneider presented a series of paintings depicting the consequences of human intervention in nature.
Rendered from a bird’s-eye perspective, the works addressed themes such as aluminum production, industrial agriculture, animal waste, glyphosate, lithium extraction, and oil catastrophes.
From above, these landscapes appear almost harmonious and visually compelling, revealing a disturbing paradox between aesthetic beauty and ecological destruction.
The contrast between the elemental forces and the altered landscapes highlights the imbalance between what is freely given by nature and what is taken without reflection.
The installation invites viewers to confront the quiet normalization of environmental exploitation and to reconsider the responsibility embedded in human perception and action.
